Praia dos Carneiros

Heading to Maragogi, but before getting there, we decided to take a detour to the famous Praia dos Carneiros.

A paradise beach that, in our opinion, is hands down the most beautiful we’ve seen so far. White sand, crystal-clear water, and endless coconut trees… A true feast for the eyes and soul.

But the beauty of this beach is matched only by the terrible state of the road leading to it. The GPS seemed to sync with Gainsbourg, repeating his line : “Little holes, little holes, always little holes.” Every pothole we dodged revealed another one right ahead. After nearly an hour of zigzagging through 30 km of chaotic road, I think I earned my co-pilot degree for bumpy roads. In Brazil, it’s so common for roads to be in bad shape that there’s even a joke : “Unlike abroad, Brazilians drive straight when they’re drunk and zigzag when they’re sober.” The funny part? It’s true!

Once we arrived, we weren’t quite sure where to set up. After some quick research, we chose the Beach Club Brisa, mainly because public access to the beach is rare, and we didn’t want to leave the car unattended. And what a good choice that was! We spent a relaxing day under a umbrella, enjoyed showers after swimming, lounged in the pool, and even had a snack – all in this idyllic setting.

The beach club turned out to be a pleasant surprise, especially since it’s located right next to a natural pool. And the cherry on top? It only took us 25 minutes to reach the famous Capela de São Benedito, a small 18th-century chapel nestled on Carneiros Beach.

We stayed long enough to watch the landscape change with the tides, and honestly, I don’t think I could ever get tired of it. If Maragogi offers as much beauty as we experienced today, it’s going to be fantastic!
